Archbishop Robert Rivas, O.P., D.D.  

 Was born on 7th June 1946 in La Pastora, Arouca, Trinidad. He was ordained a priest on 17th June 1971 and was installed as Bishop of Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines on 22nd January 1990.  He was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Castries, Saint Lucia on 19th July 2007 and was installed on 15th February 2008.

 Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

Construction began in the year 1894 to replace the old parish church, which was built in the year 1835.The buildingwas solemnly blessed by Archbishop Flood on May 11,1899, Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. Fr. Louis Tapon, who was the Parish Priest at that time, was instrumental in the planning and construction of the building.
