A Blessed Mother’s Day

They smile when they want to scream,
They cry when they are happy &
Laugh when they are nervous.
For Mothers are blessed...

They go without shoes
So their children can have them.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel &
cheer when friends are awarded.
They are happy when hearing of
a birth and/ or marriage.
For Mothers are blessed.

They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up against injustice.
They don’t take “No” for an answer
When they believe there is a better solution.
For Mothers are blessed....

The heart of a Mother is what makes the world spin!
Mothers do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.
For Mothers are blessed.....

Happy Mothers' Day

Dear Boys and Girls,

It is Month of May again when the church set aside for the special honour to Mary the Mother of God. Blessed Virgin Mary is our hope in our redemption. We honor her because God himself honored her first and more than any other creature by giving her a privilege to be the mother of His Son, Jesus Christ and our mother too. Angel honored her when he announced that she was to be the mother of God, (“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you”, Luke 1:28, that’s the words angel used to honored her). Jesus Himself honored Mary by taking His human nature from her, by living with her for 30 years, by being subject to her, by working His first miracle before the time had come at her request, by giving her to us as a mother with His dying words on the Cross, “Son behold your Mother and Mother behold your Son”. Can you imagine that! Who are you not to honour the Mother of God? Let us honour her too, and ask for her intercession because she is the only person you can turn to in time of need and trouble. She is always by your side to ask and beg on your behalf. She never turned away from you whenever you implore for her help. Therefore, this is why it is good for you to know “HAIL MARY” by heart and say it everyday especially in this month of May, so as for her to intercede for you and obtain your request from her Son, Jesus.

                                                    LET US PRAY THIS SHORT
                                                    PRAYER FOR THE MOTHER
                                                    OF THE WORLD

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for my Mother. Thank you for helping her to take care of me as she has and please give her the strength to continue to raise me in the right way. Comfort her in her time of distress, make her humble whenever she feels exalted, bless and help her to carry her burdens as she continues to raise me as a child of God, to love and serve you in this life and in the next.
Amen.

                                       How Generous Are You?

There is a famous short story by O.Henry that shows us that loving compassion sometimes makes us act foolishly. In the story, Della, a young wife, only has $1.87 to buy a Christmas present for her husband. Of course, this is not enough to buy him a gift that shows her love and appreciation of all he means to her.
As you might have guessed, the young couple is quite poor. They do, however, own two valuable possessions. Her husband has a gold watch that his grandfather and father had worn. And Della has beautiful hair. Her hair is so beautiful and so long that it reaches below her knee and forms almost a garment around her body.
Della knew what she had to do. She ran to the local hair salon, a place where they also sold wigs, and asked what they would give her for all of her hair? Twenty dollars. With her money she bought her husband a gift that she knew he would like - a gold watch chain. She missed her hair, but it would always grow back.
The story has a double twist in the end. Della’s husband, Jim, came home and was stunned to see his wife without her beautiful, long hair. He regained his composure and tossed her gift on the table. He told her that he would always love her even if she didn’t have any hair at all, but if she would open the gift, she would see why he was so stunned. Della tore at the string and paper and found a set of tortoiseshell combs that she had long been admiring in a store window. She loved them and told her husband that her hair grows fast. Next she ran to give Jim her present and asked to see the new chain attached to his watch. Jim smiled and said that maybe they should both hold on to their presents for awhile. He had sold his gold watch to purchase the combs.
How generous are you? Are you willing to give up something you value to benefit another person? We follow Jesus who gave up everything He had to become one of us. We know that He gave his life for us, but He also gave us the same Spirit that enabled him to perform all the miracles in his life. He did not give us part of the Spirit - He gave us all of his Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of Baptism.
Jesus also gives us eternal life. This is another gift that we might find hard to understand. Eternal life is not 100 extra years of living. It is not 1,000 years or even 10,000 years. Jesus gives us life without end. Just think how generous God is. God gave us his only Son. He allowed Jesus to suffer a painful death to save us from sin. And God gives us eternal life with Him forever.
Giving up something we value will never equal the generosity of God, but it is a solid beginning. We will take nothing with us when we die, only the love that we share.
