Youth | Print |  E-mail

The Church recognizes that her population consists predominantly of youth and that her message towards the year 2020 must be one which articulates a preferential option for youth, serving to deepen the faith and the active participation of young people:

Be it resolved that the Archdiocese develop youth leadership programmes based on Catholic values and practices geared towards developing servant leadership and leadership succession.

Be it resolved that the Archdiocese, in keeping with its preferential option for youth, allocate adequate capital and human resources for the expansion and efficient implementation of youth ministry in the Archdiocese.

Be it resolved that greater emphasis be placed on outreach to young people on the periphery and attention be given to youth who require guidance and healing so as to empower them to deal with their brokenness and disappointments.

Be it resolved that at every level of the Church, youth be guided to select role models who can inspire them to live their faith, discipleship and mission, with greater commitment and service to God and country.

Be it resolved that the Church increase its efforts to inspire the youth to a deeper appreciation of their Catholic Identity and their creativity, as they come to know and celebrate the joy of their faith, expressed in liturgy, prayer, worship and their entire Christian life. Rooted in the Eucharist and anchored in the Word of God, the youth develop a spirituality of wonder and awe in the presence of God.

Be it resolved that all Catholic youth groups be approved by the Parish Priest or sanctioned by the Archbishop and that they liaise with the Archdiocese Youth Ministry office to ensure authenticity and effective coordination of youth activities.
